Introduction

The rotary drum dryer is used to dry raw materials such as sawdust or biomass for making briquettes used by biomass briquette machine. The rotary drum dryer offers efficient and continuous drying capabilities, making it popular for large-scale production processes.

The Structure of Rotary Drum Dryer

Rotating Drum: The drum is the main chamber where the drying process takes place. It is cylindrical in shape and made of metal.

Support Rollers: These rollers support the weight of the drum and allow it to rotate smoothly. They are located on the exterior of the drum and help maintain its stability during operation.

Drive Mechanism: This mechanism is responsible for rotating the drum.

Heat Source: The heat required for drying is provided externally to the drum. This can be achieved using gas burners, electric heaters, or steam.

Air Flow System: A system of fans or blowers is used to circulate hot air through the drum. This ensures even drying of the material and helps carry away the moisture evaporated from the wet material.

Working Principle of Rotary Drum Dryer

The working principle of the rotary drum dryer is mainly based on heat transfer and material movement.

Feeding: Wet materials enter the rotating drying cylinder evenly through the conveyor belt.

Heating: As the cylinder rotates, the materials continue to roll and move under the action of gravity and friction. At the same time, the hot air enters the drying chamber through the small holes on the cylinder, directly contacts the material, and transfers heat to the material.

Evaporating: After the material absorbs heat, the moisture on its surface begins to evaporate. As the moisture inside the material migrates and evaporates, the material gradually dries. The moisture-laden air is then exhausted from the dryer through the exhaust system.

Drying: The rotation of the drum ensures that wet materials are continuously exposed to hot air, promoting efficient drying. The drying process continues until the material reaches the desired moisture content.

Cooling: The dried material enters the cooling stage and is cooled by cold air to prevent the material from caking or deteriorating.
Discharging: The dried materials are discharged through the discharging device.
